My daughter had her July 18, 2008 wedding ceremony and reception at the Columbus Athenaeum. This was my first experience as a “Mother of the Bride,” so naturally, I wanted her dream wedding to be perfect! The Athenaeum far surpassed our expectations in each and every way! We are still receiving rave compliments about all of the great food and the fantastic service. I have never been to a wedding that was so beautiful, and I have my event coordinator to thank for a lot of that. She had the experience needed to guide us as we chose other vendors, colors, menu items, special arrangements, etc. Initially, I had been concerned about the lack of parking, being that it is in downtown Columbus and the event was going to take place on a Friday evening, but even that was an easy fix! Ann put me in touch with a parking lot a block away and we contracted with them for event parking with an attendant. Our guests had the time of their lives! We were highly satisfied with everything, and can only hope that our other daughter will want to get married there too! If there was a higher rating than “5 stars,” I would gladly assign it to the Columbus Athenaeum… they were fantastic in every way!

From the very beginning, you helped us select a menu and additional items that would make our ceremony personal. Our wedding day, September 13, 2008, quickly approached and you were present to ensure that the process was smooth and enjoyable. As a bride, I was very nervous and anxious but was comforted by your ability to get things done and keep everyone focused. Beyond an awesome day, you were so pleasant and fun to work with. We felt that you helped make our special ceremony and intimate day possible. The food was spectacular and the set-up was beyond what we had dreamed. Additionally, the bartender and wait staff were professional and took care of everyone’s needs. We will recommend you to everyone that we know.

We wanted to write a letter of ‘thanks’ to you for all your help in making our daughter’s wedding such a beautiful occasion. November 8, 2008 was a highlight in our life and certainly in Lauren and Matt’s! Everything was perfect. Your assistance from the beginning made our job easier. You were always very accommodating; patient in answering questions (I’m sure you answered some questions more than once!) and honest when we asked your option and very helpful with suggestions. The Oak Room was the perfect choice for a wedding our size. The room accommodated 125 guests without any problem. We are so glad we chose that room! Where do I begin? I could go on and on! Lauren had a vision of what she wanted. From the flower arrangements in the tall candlesticks, the brown pintuck linen, with the apple green satin runner for the tables, to the gold Chiavari chairs – it was what she wanted and you delivered in having everything there and perfectly placed! The responses from our guests were non-stop. They thought the Oak Room and our selections for décor made for the perfect setting. People could not say enough! A week later and I am still receiving compliments! One person entering the room said “Wow, do these people know how to throw a party!” The room was breathtaking. What a hit the ‘candy bar’ was. Your team did a great job in setting it up. The table was lovely. We asked that the jars be filled in a certain order and you and your team accommodated us. The cake table was perfect as well! Using the up-lighting with the Ficus trees added to the atmosphere. The food was just as wonderful, starting with the hors d’Oeuvres and all the way through dinner and the late night appetizer of pizza bites. Your wait staff was excellent. The food was delivered so seamlessly that you didn’t notice them. They were very efficient in removing the dishes after dinner and consistently cleared the used glassware and any bottles. A great option was having the beverage butler service. Also, your bartender was efficient and always smiling at our guests. The cabaret tables were a great choice as well. And having [Ann, Sales & Event Manager] on site, was added reassurance that all was running as expected. We didn’t worry about a thing! At our first meeting, when we learned we [were strongly encouraged] to use specific vendors, I was a little unsettled with that. In hindsight, it makes a lot of sense to do it that way. Your vendors are familiar with your location and we especially loved working with Ann from Dublin Cake Cottage. She is terrific and her cakes are tops! Can’t go wrong with her cakes! Thank you, once again. We were truly satisfied. I wish I could go back and recapture it all!

Thank you so much for making our special day PERFECT! We both were blown away by the way everything ran so smoothly. I never once worried about anything that whole day. The rooms looked beautiful, the wait staff was wonderful, the food was delicious, and it flowed so perfectly. Our guests have been raving about how wonderful the food was and how courteous the staff was. Everybody loved the Priory and the Small Theater as well. They thought it all looked so stunning. We have been told that our wedding was the best wedding that people have been to, thank you for making that possible!

You did such a great job, as did everyone at TCA! It was pretty clear, at various points in the evening, that you guys do a LOT of weddings, and really have a system figured out. Several times, I would ask my brother or groomsman to help me do something, only to realize it had already been taken care of for us. You kept us on track without being pushy, and we both appreciated your flexibility with the schedule. The food was great, the rooms could not have looked better, and we and our guests had a really amazing time! Thank you for all of your hard work, because it made our wedding really special!

We held our daughter's wedding reception in the Grand Ballroom on Saturday 4/17/10. From the moment we walked into The Athenaeum back in July, 2009, we knew that this was where we wanted the reception to be held. From the very beginning, everything was made so easy and the staff was always gracious, understanding, helpful and professional. The quality of service we received Saturday night was above anything that I have ever seen. I am still receiving phone calls from our guests telling us how much they enjoyed themselves and that the wedding reception was second to none. The food was fabulous and the tastings that they offer prior to your event allows you to make sure you like what you are going to have served. I only have one daughter, but when my son is ready to get married, if this is the type of wedding/reception he and his bride want - I'll be going right back to The Athenaeum!!!
